I use my VitaMix blender. I use it a lot — one to several times a day. Every day. I’ve had my machine since 1999 and, though the motor is still strong, I’ve been through two containers. The containers are a unit with the blades at the bottom of the canister. I replaced the container a few years ago and this one’s blades were starting to stick. I know why. I throw wheatgrass, lemongrass, celery, and all kinds of fibrous foods in my smoothies and soups. All those threads have been gunking up the blade (technical term, gunning, means to muck up, to combobble) and it’s nearly impossible to pull them out from under the blades without losing a finger. I really didn’t want to spend another $100+ on a new container. I did a little digging and found a VitaMix wrench. I had it delivered to the house for under $10 total. It arrived today and I had the blade assembly off the canister and the blades sterilized in less than 10 minutes, including reassembly time. Success! It’s something I can do every few weeks to keep things running smoothly and hygienically. I’m thrilled! I’ve breathed new life into my trusty container thanks to the wonderful world of specialized tools. *insert happy dance of kitchen bliss here*
