Squirrel Antics: The Backyard Life

A while back, I posted a picture of our squirrel friend draped languidly along the banister of our deck on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I believe she was coming close to the end of her pregnancy then. Lately, my yard has been filled with adolescent squirrels and the mom. They chase each other constantly, chirp, chitter, drop branches off the trees, and all manner of activities.

This morning, I was lying in bed organizing my brain for the day and listening to them drop onto the roof over my head from the tree branch that extends as a squirrel highway, race across the roof, race back, have some kind of tussle, then launch off the roof – presumably into the tree again. Very fun. I’ve not been able to take a good picture of them yet as they are a bit skittish.

Breathe deeply,
Laugh with abandon,
Love wholly,
Eat well.
